Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (23) could be one of the players that Paris Saint-Germain look to bring in during the summer to replace the outgoing Kylian Mbappé (25).
Kvaratskhelia was little-known outside of his native Georgia before Napoli picked up the winger in the summer of 2022. However, within less than a season it was obvious that I Ciucciarelli had a star on their hands.
No player could ever replace Diego Maradona in the heart of Neapolitans, so it was a reflection of how deep their affection for their left winger was that Kvaratskhelia earned the nickname ‘Kvaradona’ due to his mesmeric performances.
And like Maradona before him, Kvaratskhelia was able to cement his name in Napoli’s history by ending the 33-year wait for the Scudetto, as they became title winners for the first time without the Argentine legend.
If Kvaratskhelia’s performances in Georgia went largely unnoticed, his time at Napoli did not. His agent speaking to Championat confirmed that PSG were one of many top European clubs interested in prizing the winger from Napoli. “Barcelona and PSG? Of course, there are offers for him from top clubs. How could there be no proposals? In May, it will be more clear.”
Although PSG will be well aware that attempting to sign a Napoli player can be a difficult task as they learned last summer when they tried to secure Victor Osimhen (25). Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is notorious for setting inflexible demands in the transfer market, and with Kvaratskhelia’s contract lasting until 2027, it will have to be a monumental offer to sway De Laurentiis.
