It has been 10 years since Andriy Shevchenko last played for Chelsea but he could be back at Stamford Bridge on a more regular basis as it has emerged his son Kristian is training at the club's youth academy.
The 12-year-old is the second of the forward's four sons and was born in London during his father's time at Stamford Bridge - meaning he could be eligible to play for England.
Shevchenko confirmed his son was on Chelsea's books, praising the success of the youth set-up of his former club.
'My second son is training at Chelsea Academy,' Shevchenko told Ukrainian site Vesti.
'This is a very good school, which brought up more than a dozen players of excellent level.'
Shevchenko marked Kristian's birth while playing for Chelsea with a 'rock the cradle' celebration when he scored in a 4-0 Premier League win over Watford.
Although the Three Lions would be an option, Shevchenko was coy over his son's potential international future - as he could play for his father's nation Ukraine or even the United States or Poland through his mother, American model, Kristen Pazik.
'I would like to face such a choice. I'd love to. If there is to be such a choice, then we will talk,' he added.
Shevchenko arrived at Chelsea in a headline grabbing £30million move from AC Milan in 2006 and was expected to bring in the goals that had made him one of the world's deadliest strikers while at the San Siro.
But the former Ukrainian international proved to be a disappointment while in west London, scoring just nine Premier League goals across 48 appearances during his three years at the club.
However, he states he has no regrets over the ill-fated move and still lives in the capital where his family has settled.
'In no way. I’m not even going to discuss that. I do not tidy up the past. Everything is as it should have happened, so it happened,' he added.
'I have been living in London for the past 13 years. My family is there, it’s convenient there, plus I wanted my children to go to school there.'
