It’s been reported that 15 Serie A clubs are struggling to pay November’s wages with FIGC and Lega Serie A that have made a double request to the Italian Government.

“We are very concerned, we are close to collapsing and I fear that the country’s economy will pay dearly for the restrictive measures that have been put in place,” the Lega Serie A President Paolo Dal Pino said last week.

“Health comes first but it is important to do the right things, planning in the medium and long term and think about the consequences on employment.

“The side effects of the recent measures affect many sectors, including our own, which lost €600m in 2020 due to the closure of stadiums.

“We expect attention and sensitivity from the government. The Prime Minister has clearly said that the sectors affected by forced closures will have an economic aid and we expect that an industry like ours.”

Il Corriere dello Sport cites a report of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, claiming 15 out of 20 Serie A clubs are struggling to pay November’s wages.

According to the report some of those clubs have yet to pay the entire wages of June but they have time to do it until November 16.

The FIGC and Lega Serie A have reportedly made a double request to the Government trying to solve the situation. The first one is a postponement of the deadline for the payment of players’ wages in the current campaign. That would need to come with an agreement between the clubs and the players as well.

The second one is a tax agreement that would allow the clubs not to pay taxes on players’ wages for this season.
