Andre Silva's timely form ahead of European Championship and summer window

  /  autty

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva has been in superb form this season, as he currently sits third place in the European Golden Boot standings behind Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese striker has experienced his most prolific campaign as a professional footballer, scoring 25 goals in just 30 appearances in all competitions, following his permanent move from AC Milan.

Silva initially joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a two-year loan deal with Ante Rebic heading to AC Milan in the opposite direction, but made his move permanent, signing a three-year contract in September 2020 with the German outfit.

Despite having underwhelming spells at AC Milan and Sevilla prior to his time in Germany, the striker may well be on the road to silencing his doubters.

Some major clubs have also been alerted to Silva's form this campaign and the 25-year-old has been linked with moves away from Frankfurt in the summer.

Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and even Barcelona are said to be interested in the Portuguese striker with the former stating that Silva will be a great replacement for Erling Braut Haaland should the Norwegian move from Iduna Park in the summer.

Barcelona are also said to be looking for a striker in the summer and Silva's name has been mentioned alongside the likes of Sergio Aguero and Erling Haaland.

Andre Silva's chance to shine on the big stage

Despite heavily representing Portugal at youth level, Silva has just featured three times in a major competition for his country with all appearances coming at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Silva made a cameo appearance in the thrilling 3-3 draw with Spain and also started the third group stage match against Iran although he didn't score.

He also came on for Goncalo Guedes in his sides 2-1 defeat against Uruguay which saw the Portuguese national side crash out in the Round of 16.

After his scintillating form this season, Andre Silva will be hoping for a more prominent role in his sides effort to retain the European Championship this summer, with the competition just 50 days away.

Portugal will face France, Germany and Hungary in Group F, familiarly known as 'the group of death'.
