Arsenal have opened talks with Leandro Trossard over a new contract reaching to 2029.

The 30-year-old, who joined the Gunners from Brighton in January 2023 for £27million, is a key component of Mikel Arteta's squad.

Trossard has this season made 26 starts from 35 Premier League matches, providing eight goals and six assists.

In the Belgian's current contract, which expires next summer, there is a one-year extension clause to 2027.

But Mail Sport understands that the new deal on the table would keep Trossard at the north London club until 2029.

Arsenal last September turned down a bid from Al Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League for Trossard, and clubs in the league are understood to be pursuing him again this summer.

The development comes ahead of a summer in which Arsenal are in the market for a striker and left winger.

For Trossard, it's a major coup - he would be 34 by the time the new deal would expire.

It's understood that his high levels of fitness in terms of longevity was a contributing factor to a lengthy proposed deal from Arsenal, which is not the norm for players aged over 30.
