Arsenal will do their all to bring Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Prior to the coronavirus-related stoppage of football, the Colombian had struggled for game time at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu since returning to the club ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

The Sun now report that Arsenal view James as the player who will help bring some extra quality to their attack.

In England, discussions are emerging about extending the transfer market from June 1, 2020, to January 31, 2021, in order to help clubs deal with the recession that is almost inevitable once the COVID-19 virus has been controlled.

Should James make the move to England, it would be the fifth European league that he would have played in after Portugal, France, Spain and Germany.

Arsenal believe that James can thrive again in a new environment and they want the 28-year-old to be a key part of their project moving forward.

One matter that could aid James if he joins the Gunners is that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is Spanish, so the two would share a language, something that could be key in the Colombian's initial adaptation to life in London.
