Barcelona are a steamroller in the Champions League

Ronald Koeman has been disappointed with Barcelona's ruthlessness in front of goal since taking charge at the Camp Nou, with the Blaugrana not as free scoring as he would have expected or hoped when he took the job.

But that could not be said of their Champions League form, with them being one of the highest-scoring teams in the competition. Only Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach have scored as many as the Catalans' 16 goals so far, which is all the more impressive considering Lionel Messi has been rested in their last two games.

Barcelona are storming through to the knockout rounds having shown great strength, winning each of their five matches so far in an imposing manner.

Koeman has been rotating his players in attack, and he has been rewarded with some excellent performances. He has used Europe as a chance to give minutes to some lesser played players, namely Martin Braithwaite, and his plan B has worked a treat.

The Dane has scored three goals in his last two games, which is the same total that Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi have managed.

The Frenchman started on Wednesday and looked confident, even asking Braithwaite if he could take the penalty that the ex-Leganes forward had won, which he converted.

Koeman's risk of leaving Messi out has paid off. The team have managed to come through without their No.10 and achieve positive results. One of the players to really step up has been Antoine Griezmann.

The World Cup winner has looked inspired lately, and has had a fine LaLiga Santander goal sandwiched between his two good European performances as well.
