Chelsea have already wrapped up impressive deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner this summer, and more arrivals are expected at Stamford Bridge.
After UEFA’s transfer ban prevented the club from signing any players last summer and with no new additions in January, Frank Lampard is taking the opportunity to finetune his squad ahead of 2020/21.
Ziyech and Werner will add quality and depth to Chelsea ’s forward line but with Pedro joining Roma and others such as Willian expected to leave the club, further reinforcements will be required to ensure Chelsea’s progression under Lampard.
Here are the latest transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea.
Gomes back on the radar?
Chelsea could be back in for Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all but confirmed that the teenager would leave Old Trafford.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has long been regarded as one of the best up-and-coming talents in English football but he has found it difficult to force his way into United’s first-team squad.
Asked whether or not Gomes had agreed an extension to his deal, United bos Solskjaer said: “Got no news, nothing. So doesn't look like it."
The Londoner has been on Chelsea’s radar in the past and he would be available on a free transfer, although the Blues would have to pay their Premier League rivals a compensation fee if they were to sign him.
Werner reveals Lampard discussions
Timo Werner has revealed that talks with Frank Lampard convinced him to join Chelsea despite interest in him from Premier League champions Liverpool.
The 24-year-old will link up with Chelsea at the end of the season after refusing to play for RB Leipzig during their Champions League games in August.
"The discussions with those responsible at Chelsea were so good that I ultimately chose Chelsea," Werner told Sky in Germany.
"The coach in particular [Frank Lampard] stood behind me and really wanted me to know that I was going to Chelsea, so I can feel just as comfortable as here.
"In the conversations with me, the coach often emphasised how much he wanted me, how much he valued me as a person.”
Ten Hag issues warning over Ziyech
Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag has warned Lampard that incoming signing Ziyech can be a ‘nightmare’ to deal with.
The Moroccan winger agreed to join Chelsea back in February following four productive seasons in Amsterdam and will move to London imminently following the suspension of the Dutch Eredivisie.
“Sometimes he is a trainer's nightmare, but you have to give him space," Ten Hag said.
“Hakim is 'what you see is what you get'. You see what his emotions are doing to him today.
