Didier Drogba says he learned most from Frank Lampard at Chelsea

Didier Drogba has praised Frank Lampard as one of his greatest influences, as the striker looks back on his recently ended career.

Drogba and Lampard formed a deadly midfield-attacker partnership for eight years at Chelsea, peaking with victory in the 2012 Champions League final.

The Ivorian says the pair would constantly improve each other by coming up with new combinations and drills in training, in order to find new ways of scoring goals and terrorising defences.

Speaking at a Chelsea fan event in Tokyo, Drogba said: 'There's one that I'm going to put a bit more in front because most of my goals came from him, it's Frank Lampard.

'Also because every day after training we were staying on the pitch trying to practice, trying to create some exercises because the ones we did a few days ago were becoming too easy.

'So, we were trying to bring in new exercises and that's how we progressed and challenged each other to score goals, to create assists and for me I learned a lot from him.'

Lampard and Drogba combined for a total of 36 Premier League goals in their careers, which remains the highest number of strikes produced by a single combination of players in the division.

Drogba, 40, recently brought an end to his stellar career following a period with American club Phoenix Rising.

He finishes his career with 300 goals from 686 matches, including two spells at Chelsea along with Marseille, Galatasaray and Montreal Impact among a host of other clubs he played for.
