Filipe Luis absence causes concern as his muscular problem continues

Filipe Luis' injury picked up on 15 December was expected to keep him out of action for three weeks, but the Brazilian full-back remains out of action, causing some concern for Diego Simeone and the club.

The Atletico Madrid manager expected to have all of his injured players, bar Diego Costa, back for the match against Sevilla on 6 January but the Brazilian defender's muscular problem continues through the month and is out of Saturday's game against Huesca.

This problem arrives in the middle of a sticky situation between club and player, with the 33-year-old's contract set to expire this summer.

Filipe Luis wants a three-year deal and a wage rise in the region of the amount PSG were willing to offer him last summer, but the club wants to stick to its policy for players over the age of 30 which is a one-year extension depending on performances.

The injury worry adds further doubt over whether the player will continue beyond this season, with the club seemingly concerned over his physical situation.
