Harry Kane 'is OPEN to signing a new Tottenham contract'

Harry Kane is reportedly ready to discuss extending his stay at Tottenham after becoming happy with the direction the club is heading in.

The 28-year-old tried to force through a move to Manchester City last summer after falling short once again in his quest to win a major trophy, with the forward failing to report back for pre-season training on time last summer.

A move to the Etihad never materialised and saw Kane reluctantly stay at White Hart Lane. However, with Antonio Conte at the helm, Spurs were able to secure Champions League football for next season and the forward is reportedly increasingly hopeful he can end his wait to win some silverware.

And with the future looking bright in north London, Kane is now open to discussing a new contract with Spurs, according to the Evening Standard.

Kane has two years left to run on his current Spurs deal and is yet to hold talks over a new contract.

The report goes on to claim that Kane is waiting to discover the outcome of Conte's crunch talks with the club over his future as manager, but provided the Italian is happy that his ambition is being matched, Kane will entertain talks once he returns for pre-season training.

Tottenham's owners ENIC pumped £150million of capital into the club on Tuesday, which will come as a huge boost to Conte – who has demanded to be backed in the summer window – and is now likely to stay on as manager.

Kane will turn 29 in July and another long-term deal would likely keep him at the club for the remainder of his career.

Kane is also desperate to chase down Jimmy Greaves' all-time scoring record at Spurs while he has Alan Shearer's Premier League total of 260 goals in his sights.

The Spurs talisman is currently on 183 Premier League goals.

Having secured fourth spot ahead of bitter rivals Arsenal, Kane has flown to America for a family break before the start of next month's Nations League fixtures.

He is due to appear of 'The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon' on Thursday in New York before returning to join up with the England squad.
