Inter have 'great respect for Mou' but have no intention of replacing Spalletti

Inter have “great respect for Jose Mourinho,” said director Piero Ausilio, but have no intention of replacing Luciano Spalletti with the axed Manchester United boss.

Mou is still a beloved figure among the Nerazzurri after his Treble success in 2010, taking the Scudetto, Champions League and Coppa Italia.

When he was fired by Manchester United this morning, the rumours of a return to San Siro inevitably started swirling.

“I was surprised because we’re talking about a great Coach. I don’t know the reasons why any Coach was dismissed by another club, that is not something for me to know,” director Ausilio told reporters after an awards ceremony this evening.

“The great respect remains for Mourinho, but of course that has nothing to do with Inter’s immediate future, because Inter have a great Coach and are absolutely going forward with this Coach.”

When Manchester United beat Juventus in the Champions League last month, Mourinho declared his controversial celebration was in retaliation for insults to "my family and my Inter family."
