'It's not serious to talk about a €300 penalty' - Atleti president on Griez case

Enrique Cerezo, president of Atletico Madrid, said that he does not think “it's serious to talk” about a possible penalty of “300 euros” against Barcelona for the signing of Antoine Griezmann on Wednesday.

“ All this takes its course and legally our lawyers will be working on this issue. I didn't think it was serious to talk about 300 euros, but football is like that,” said the Rojiblancos owner before the official board lunch with Juventus, prior to last night's UCL match.

Atleti maintain that Griezmann reached an agreement with the Blaugrana before the player's buyout clause dropped from 200 million euros to 120 million euros in July.

According to reports, the investigating judge appointed by the Competition Committee has handed out a 300 euro fine to Barcelona, but he admits that the amount is irrelevant and has suggested a sanction that would see one game being played behind closed doors at the Camp Nou.
