RC Lens centre-back Jonathan Gradit (33) is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining a serious injury this Friday during training, the Artois side has confirmed.

Gradit has fractured his right fibula and will undergo surgery in the next few hours. He will therefore miss several months of action. L’Equipe adds that the 33-year-old defender has been rushed to hospital due to the severity of the injury.

“Our thoughts are with him and his family“, said Lens head coach Pierre Sage to the outlet. “We’ll handle this situation with his family. Everyone is close to Jo; he’s in perfect harmony with the staff, with his teammates… The important thing is that he receives proper care and treatment.” Gradit’s loss for the foreseeable future is a considerable blow for third-placed Lens, who will play Angers away this Sunday.
