16' Alisson denies Neymar & Cavani with double saves

Double chance! Neymar gets his first sight at goal following a subtle turn just inside the penalty area. He shoots straight at Alisson from 15 yards, before Cavani tamely bounces the rebound into the keeper's waiting arms.

30' GOAL! Liverpool 1-0 PSG (Sturridge)

WHAT A MOMENT FOR STURRIDGE! Liverpool lead 1-0! Making his first Champions League start for Liverpool, in place of the injured Firmino, Sturridge nestles wonderfully in between Silva and Kimpembe to head home a deliciously inviting cross from Robertson! Liftoff for Liverpool!

36' Penalty Goal! Liverpool 2-0 PSG (Milner)

AND NOW LIVERPOOL HAVE A PENALTY! A huge miss at one end for PSG, and now they're in danger of letting this game slip away from them! Bernat is making his Champions League debut for PSG and it's not gone at all according to plan as he needlessly fouls Wijnaldum, who was heading away from goal, in the penalty area, and the referee points straight to the spot!

LIVERPOOL RUNNING RIOT! 2-0! Milner typically cool and composed from the penalty spot as he calmly slots home a perfect spot-kick into the bottom corner, just out of the reach of Areola!

40' GOAL! Liverpool 2-1 PSG (Meunier)

PSG HALVE THE DEFICIT! 2-1! How badly did PSG need that?! Robertson fails to clear the danger after a cross is sent in from the left, instead touching it straight to Meunier who takes it with stunning composure, slotting his first- time finish in at the near post! Game on!

58' Salah's goal disallowed as Sturridge challenges Areola

NO GOAL! Salah turns in a rebound and runs off thinking he's restored Liverpool's two-goal lead, but the referee called play for a Sturridge foul on Areola in the build-up. The striker clattered into the PSG keeper rather dangerously, after a dreadful touch saw him spurn a glorious chance!

72' CHANCE! Salah fires wide from 15 yards out

83' GOAL! Liverpool 2-2 PSG (Mbappe)

OUT OF NOTHING, PARITY IS RESTORED! 2-2!

It's come completely against the run of play, and Liverpool only have themselves to blame for not putting this one to bed! Neymar pounces on a giveaway in midfield, surges forward and slips a pass in for Mbappe, who makes no mistake from 12 yards!

92' GOAL! Liverpool 3-2 PSG (Firmino)

LIVERPOOL WIN IT AT THE DEATH! ANFIELD ERUPTS! IT'S 3-2!

It's another magical European night at Anfield, as Firmino turns Marquinhos brilliantly inside the area to open up space for a shot, and drives a terrific effort across the face of goal and in at the far post! PSG can hardly believe it!

Match reports

Substitute Roberto Firmino scored the winner in added time as Liverpool overcame Paris Saint-Germain in a five-goal thriller.

Kylian Mbappe appeared to have salvaged a draw for PSG after levelling the scores in the 83rd minute, but the World Cup winner then gave away possession 25 yards out from his own goal.

And Firmino, who started on the bench due to an eye injury suffered against Tottenham on Saturday, rifled across Alphonse Areola to ensure last season's beaten finalists got off to a victorious start in Group C on Tuesday.

PSG had fought back from 2-0 down, Liverpool leading thanks to a Daniel Sturridge header and James Milner's penalty, but Jurgen Klopp's men deserved to come out on top.

Virgil van Dijk and Milner forced early saves from Alphonse Areola, with the visitors having to defend a barrage of corners, and Liverpool took the lead on the half-hour mark.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's delivery from the right was slightly too deep but Andrew Robertson arrived to deliver a brilliant first-time cross that Sturridge firmly headed past Areola.

The Liverpool lead was soon doubled, Milner beating Areola from 12 yards after Juan Bernat clumsily tripped Georginio Wijnaldum in the penalty area, but Thomas Meunier gave PSG an immediate lifeline with a low volley.

Liverpool thought they had restored their two-goal cushion after the break when Mohamed Salah tapped in from close range, but it was rightly ruled out for Sturridge's challenge on Areola.

Mbappe, who had barely had a sniff of goal, seized on a loose ball after Neymar's driving run to slam home past Alisson and seemingly earn PSG a point with only seven minutes to go.

However, the France international crucially had an impact at the opposite end of the field in added time, giving up possession to allow Van Dijk to feed Firmino, who arrowed in a shot to settle a pulsating contest.
