AS Monaco came from a goal down to beat Lyon 2-1 away from home, recording a sixth consecutive Ligue 1 win for the first time since 2022, while the hosts six-match unbeaten league run came to a sorry end.

Match Report
Monaco had scored a minimum of two goals in each of their last seven away matches, and their first chance to try and extend that run came 15 minutes in when Maghnes Akliouche ran onto an incisive through pass but had his effort smothered by Dominik Greif.
That sparked a response from Lyon, as Endrick tried his luck from range, forcing Lukas Hradecky to parry. The goalkeeper was then left rooted as Pavel Sulc’s header flew a whisker wide, before the Finn got down well to stop Orel Mangala’s curling effort.
Les Monegasques were struggling to show the form that had seen them pick up the most Ligue 1 points in the last nine rounds. Their best chance came when Lamine Camara fired the ball across the six-yard box, but despite two Monaco players waiting for a tap in, Afonso Moreira got between them and cleared the ball over the crossbar.
That lack of creativity was punished in the 42nd minute, when Endrick got free on the right and cut the ball back perfectly for Sulc to fire into the roof of the net.
Things almost got even better for the hosts on the stroke of half-time, when Corentin Tolisso struck the post and Endrick couldn’t react quickly enough to the rebound.
Both sides began the second half putting pressure on the opposition penalty areas, but it took until the 57th minute for either to create a chance.
Endrick was played through on goal, and he poked the ball past Hradecky but couldn’t beat Jordan Teze, who scrambled back to clear off the line.
Teze’s second crucial involvement arrived five minutes later, as his long ball forward was taken down by Akliouche, who guided the ball out of Greif’s reach to equalise.
As the match entered its final quarter, Monaco had the chance to complete the turnaround when Akliouche was caught inside the area by Tolisso.
Folarin Balogun took responsibility from the spot and coolly rolled the ball into the bottom corner. Greif then kept Les Gones in the game with a smart stop to deny Ansu Fati, before pinball in the Lyon box resulted in Balogun firing wide with the goalkeeper stranded.
In the 89th minute, hopes of a late leveller for Paulo Fonseca’s side took a blow when Nicolás Tagliafico was dismissed for a bad challenge on Camara, as Lyon’s winless run in all competitions was extended to eight matches. For Sebastien Pocognoli’s side, it’s a third H2H victory in the last four meetings.
