Manchester United are stepping up their pursuit of Leicester City star James Maddison, according to the Independent.
The £60m-rated England Under 21 international enjoyed a stunning first season in the Premier League after his move from Norwich last summer.
He has now been "made a priority" by the Red Devils as they emerge in pole position in the race for his signature.
Maddison is understood to have been tracked by Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham for a number of years, but United are now looking to make their move.
Whilst an official bid has not been lodged they have made contact with the Foxes, who could be in line to treble their money having splashed out £20m on Maddison just last summer.
Maddison created more goalscoring chances than any other player last Premier League season and certainly fits Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's criteria for young and hungry players for his summer rebuild.
They also targeted Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho before missing out on Champions League football, with attention turned to winger Daniel James and 22-year-old Maddison to increase their number of British players.
Maddison, who was handed a first call-up to Gareth Southgate's senior side last October, is currently with England Under 21s ahead of their European Championship campaign this summer.
