Man Utd target Bournemouth's Ake, Villa's Mings and Romagnoli in summer (ESPN)

According to ESPN, thanks to the re-emergence of Paul Pogba in central midfield alongside Bruno Fernandes, United will turn their summer transfer efforts to the defence, instead of pursuing another midfielder like Jack Grealish, James Maddison or Donny van de Beek as had been previously reported.

While United’s attacking players have clicked into gear since the restart, the club still feels that defensive reinforcements are required, especially at centre-half.

The three names that have been earmarked as potential targets in the summer window are Bournemouth ’s Nathan Ake, Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings, and AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli.

With both Bournemouth and Villa facing relegation, Ake and Mings may well be more attainable. They are also both left-footed, which would provide an able partner for Harry Maguire, who arrived in an £80m deal from Leicester City last summer.
