Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti could join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United this summer if the defender gets his way.
The centre-back could be on his way out of Barcelona - especially if the La Liga giants sign Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt.
Barcelona have been tracking Dutch international De Ligt and are believed to be close to agreeing a deal for the 19-year-old.
And they are prepared to sell Umtiti in order to pursue the deal for de Ligt, say reports.
Solskjaer, expected to be confirmed as Manchester United's new manager imminently, needs to bolster his defence, along with other areas of the squad, in order to turn the Red Devils back into regular title contenders.
Umtit, 25, would fit the bill and would cost around £60m - but United could face competition from bitter rivals Manchester City for the defender, with Pep Guardiola also looking to strengthen his backline.
If Barcelona do decide to sell, French international Umtiti would be keen on a move to either one of the Manchester rivals, according to Calciomercato.
He has missed five months of this season with a knee injury but is widely regarded as one of the finest defenders in world football.
The Cameroon-born defender, who joined from Lyon in 2016, has formed a formidable central defensive partnership with Gerard Pique at the Camp Nou.
Solskjaer's United will learn their Champions League quarter-final opponents in Friday's draw from midday.
