Ryan Giggs believes Edinson Cavani can have a similar impact to Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United after the Uruguayan joined the club earlier this month on a one-year deal with the option of extending his contract for a further 12 months.
The 33-year-old last played in March and was in quarantine following his arrival in the UK, meaning he missed Saturday's 4-1 win over Newcastle United and was not deemed ready to face former club Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday after only training with the team for the first time on Monday.
However, with Anthony Martial suspended for the next two Premier League games following his sending-off against Tottenham before the international break, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Cavani could make his debut in Saturday's crucial evening kick-off against Chelsea.
Giggs feels the Champions League goal machine could help his team-mates up their level.
'I faced Cavani in my second game for Wales and he was better than Luis Suarez in the game. I didn't think he was that good,' the 46-year-old told Webby & O'Neill's YouTube channel.
'He was a real handful. He hasn't played for a long time so he might be a little bit rusty, but you're getting a proper centre forward who can lead the line, which a lot of fans have been crying out for.
'We have Marcus (Rashford), Martial who is half a winger, half a centre forward. Cavani is a forward, a target man.
'He's got the experience. I'm hoping, just like Bruno has, he will make the players around him even better.'
Fernandes was the architect of United's resurgence in the second half of last season as they sealed a Champions League place on the final day of the campaign.
His impressive form has continued this term, with four goals and three assists after six games for his club.
Fernandes' form was rewarded with the captaincy after Harry Maguire did not travel to the Parc des Princes due to injury and the Portuguese creator put his side in front against the French champions when he coolly slotted home a penalty after Martial was brought down by Abdou Diallo.
The Frenchman then headed into his own net 10 minutes into the second half before Rashford came up with the clincher, just as he had done two seasons earlier in the French capital when United knocked out PSG in the round of 16.
