Spain are focused on European Championship qualification after their failure to reach the Final Four of the UEFA Nations League was confirmed with England's 2-1 win over Croatia on Sunday.

The negativity of the day was glossed over somewhat, though, as Spain beat Bosnia and Herzegovina later in the day and Mario Hermoso is adamant that La Roja are already looking ahead to the next challenge.

"Things happen, football is like that," he said after the match in reference to England's win over Croatia.

"What we're interested in is forming a good group, a good team for the European Championship.

"We're working on that and our aim is the European Championship."

Hermoso was pleased to have debuted for Spain and even more so with the clean sheet he helped the side keep.

"To be able to win and to keep them out [is good]," he added.

"To dominate the game and to serve the attacking players, it went well."

Regarding what is asked of him by Luis Enrique, the Espanyol man was clear.

"That I continue to play as I have been.

"I need to correct my defects and things will go well."

Along with Hermoso, Pau Lopez and Brais Mendez also made their debuts on Sunday night.
