Match Report

The guests want to start strong, but find a solid and organized defense of the red and whites. Bianco's team did not stand idly by and was dangerous when they restarted, as in the 8th minute when Ciurria's cross from the right crossed the entire Nerazzurri area, frightening Martinez. In the 17th minute, Colpani tried directly from a free kick: the Inter goalkeeper blocked. Monza enterprising and dangerous even two minutes later, when Caprari is stopped at the last minute in a scrum, at the time of the goal. The number 10 is inspired and tries again with his right foot in the 43rd minute: the ball is deflected for a corner. After a phase of suffering, Inter showed up in the 30th minute with a curling shot by Bonny, which did not frame the goal. Ciurria guesses the conclusion, however, which gives Monza the lead in the 33rd minute. Caprari's soft cross from the left and a flat left-footed volley from Fante, who slotted into the corner of the same goal where he had scored his first Serie A goal against Inter on 7 January 2023.

Bianco's team insists and continues to play with quality. In the 42nd minute, Dany Mota had to surrender due to injury, giving way to Ganvoula. Inter tried to straighten out the game with another cue from Bonny in the 44th minute, but the former Parma man shot on the outside of the net. In the first minute of injury time the 1-1 arrives with an unfortunate deflection by Birindelli, who anticipates Thiam. Inter took courage and at the beginning of the second half completed the comeback. It was the 52nd minute when Pio Esposito corrected Darmian's shot into the net with a backheel for the 1-2 Nerazzurri. Favorable moment for Chivu's team, which goes close to the third goal with Bonny in the space of two minutes. Coach Bianco plays a double substitution in the 59th minute by inserting Obiang and Carboni. Monza reacts and in the 62nd minute Ganvoula unloads a great right-footed shot, deflected for a corner. Bianco makes first Azzi and Galazzi debut and then Delli Carri and Ravanelli. In goal there was an excellent Thiam who denied Inter the third goal by saving first from the shot of the young Mosconi and then in a perfect exit from Lautaro Martinez. Monza remains in the game and in the 89th minute goes to equalize. The new signing Azzi takes care of it, who controls Sardo's splendid throw and beats Martinez with coolness. Splendid debut for the Italian-Brazilian who has just arrived from Cremonese and an excellent 2-2 draw for Monza.

It ends like this in the 90th minute, but then there are penalty kicks. After Martinez's save on Sardo's shot, Thuram's goal proved decisive for the Nerazzurri's success, but for Monza there were excellent signs from the evening ahead of the first official match, Sunday 17 August against Frosinone for the thirty-second round of the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa.
