Noel Gallagher heaps praise on Liverpool's Salah after wonder goal vs City

Mohamed Salah's exploits against Manchester City at Anfield turned out to be that good that even the club's most famous fan is waxing lyrical about him.

Salah made the football world stop and hold its breath on Sunday after gliding past a string of City players and leaving them for dead, before beating Ederson to cap off a sublime solo strike and put the Reds ahead.

The Egyptian, 29, has enjoyed a sensational start to the campaign, scoring nine goals in all competitions, with fans and pundits failing to run out of superlatives for Liverpool's talisman.

And music legend Noel Gallagher has joined a long list of Salah admirers, despite his deep love for Pep Guardiola's side.

The former Oasis star admitted that Salah is 'so likeable' and heaped praise on the attacker for his sensational strike against the Premier League champions.

'Mo Salah's goal was just far out,' he told talkSPORT.

'Do you know what the most awful thing about that guy is? He's so likeable.

'When you see him afterwards I just want to give him a little cuddle, whereas you really want him to be like [Wayne] Rooney or something.'

Despite widespread praise for his stunning effort against Liverpool's title rivals, Salah insisted that his strike would have been better had Jurgen Klopp's side gone onto take all three points.

As it was, City left Anfield with a point after Phil Foden levelled the scores with a clinical left-footed strike beyond Alisson Becker.

'I have to watch it to see, I do remember it a bit,' Salah said. 'I think it would be more special if it won the game, but it is what it is, this is the result, I think it's a good goal but nothing much to say.'
