'Not at all' - Shaqiri asked if he'd have coffee with Neville

Xherdan Shaqiri made his feelings towards Gary Neville perfectly clear when he was asked if he'd have a coffee with the Manchester United legend.

Neville hit out at the Switzerland international in an interview at the start of the season after he signed for Liverpool from Stoke City.

"I'm not a fan of Shaqiri to be honest with you," said Neville, at the time of the signing. "I think that was to be fair made worse by the fact that he distanced himself from his team-mates at Stoke.

"They were unprofessional last season Stoke there's no doubt and he epitomises it."

Shaqiri, who was the 'under the radar' signing of the summer for Liverpool, who splashed major cash on the likes of Alisson and Fabinho, reacted by getting his head down.

The Swiss didn't speak to the press, he instead worked hard at Anfield and has recently found himself an increasingly important part of Jurgen Klopp's team.

In fact, last time out for the Reds against Fulham, it was Shaqiri who netted the all-important second goal in the 2-0 win to secure the three points.

It seems he's gone someway to proving his critics wrong, but that doesn't mean to say he has forgotten what Neville said about him.

When asked if he would go for a coffee with the former Red Devils defender, he responded definantely.

"Not at all," Shaqiri told Blick. "I do not care what he says. I do not care if he says now that I'm playing hard.

"Many have ridiculed [me] after the transfer that Liverpool is too big for me. But I was always calm, too, when I got little playing time at the beginning.

"I knew, of course because of the experience at Bayern and Inter, that I have to be patient, work focused and then take my chance when I get it."
