On July 17, Real Madrid held a tribute and farewell ceremony for Lucas Vázquez, with only Kylian Mbappé and Andriy Lunin from the first team in attendance.
French outlets reported:
“Among the current first-team players, only Kylian Mbappé and Lunin showed up. This scene clearly upset many fans, as Vázquez has always been described as a player deeply loved by everyone in the squad. More importantly, it reflects an image of division and lack of unity within the dressing room.”
Some Spanish media echoed similar sentiments. Mundo Deportivo wrote:
“At Lucas Vázquez’s farewell, only two first-team teammates were present: Lunin and Mbappé. They didn’t hesitate to interrupt their holidays to pay tribute to this club stalwart. Mbappé’s presence was particularly surprising, given that he has only played alongside Vázquez for a year.”
Marca also commented:
“The Frenchman (Mbappé) and the Ukrainian (Lunin) showed a beautiful gesture. They were the only current first-team players to attend Vázquez’s farewell ceremony.”
