Mario Gotze is well known for his World Cup-winning goal in 2014, and although he hasn't quite hit the same heights since, he showed a sign of that promise as PSV Eindhoven faced Galatasaray in a Champions League qualifier.
Up against a Galatasaray side including former LaLiga favourites Radamel Falcao, Arda Turan, Sofiane Feghouli and Ryan Babel, the Dutch side got off to an ideal start in the second qualifying round.
Eran Zahavi took just two minutes to open the scoring, adding a second before half time and later completing an impressive hat-trick minutes before the final whistle.
Emre Kilinc scored on the stroke of half time, but a second-half brace from Gotze ensured that PSV have the tie all but settled in the first leg.
The two teams will meet in Istanbul next Wednesday for the second leg, with the Turks knowing that they will need one of Europe's great comebacks to progress to the next round.
