Pjanic and Arthur: Two very different realities

Since the swap deal between Barcelona and Juventus has been made official, the situations of Miralem Pjanic and Arthur Melo have been very different.

While the Bosnian is an undisputed starter for the Serie A leaders, the Brazilian midfielder has barely played five minutes in the last four games.

There may be a certain contradiction between the ways they both dealt with the transfer saga.

While Pjanic made his desire to join Barcelona clear from the start, Arthur was not willing to depart Catalonia. However, neither the former punished, nor the latter rewarded.

Since all the parties agreed on the swap deal, Pjanic has started each of Juventus' four games, despite being subbed in all but one.

Everyone at the club respects the Bosnian midfielder who has shown an exemplary attitude on and off the pitch in his four years with the Old Lady.

Following the deal, a video that was leaked which showed Pjanic celebrating the move to the Camp Nou with his family and friends. However, neither his coach, Maurizio Sarri, nor his teammates were frustrated by his reaction.

Meanwhile, Arthur's situation is much more complicated as he was urged to accept a move to Juventus.

The deal was clinched before the game against Celta, in which Quique Setien sent him on for the final minutes.

After travelling to Vigo, he took a flight to Turin to put pen to paper and since then he hasn't stepped on the pitch, although before that point he played four games, starting against Leganes and Athletic Club, and coming off the bench against Real Mallorca and Sevilla.

Arthur said that he will stay at the club until the season comes to an end but it seems that Setien isn't much interested in him.

The Brazil international has fallen back in his coach's pecking order behind the likes of Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, Sergi Roberto and Riqui Puig.

It remains to be seen if something will change in the Champions League, as both Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal are suspended for the return leg against Napoli.

Meanwhile, Frenkie de Jong is expected to fully recover from his injury by then, and Sergi Roberto has already played a couple of games after coming back from an injury of his own.
