There was a friendly atmosphere between the Real Madrid and Atletico directors at Saturday's derby, with those on the losing side congratulating the winners and with the Rojiblanco directors refusing to turn to excuses for the defeat.
There were similar comments from many of the players and, especially, from Diego Simeone in his post-match press conference, dismissing the idea that the refereeing and VAR had cost them the game.
"We were very well received and they congratulated us in a sincere way at the end," one Real Madrid director told MARCA.
Later that night, however, Atletico published a tweet that featured three still images of three of the controversial decisions from the match.
Those at Real Madrid aren't angry about Atletico's complaints, but they are surprised that their city rivals first of all praised the Real Madrid performance and later questioned the merits of their victory.
The relationship between the two clubs is one of coexistence and little more.
They respect each other, even if they have taken different approaches in certain decisions.
