Real Madrid ready to launch fresh pursuit of Manchester United star Paul Pogba

Real Madrid are reportedly lining up a summer move for Paul Pogba as part of their priority transfer business ahead of next season.

Pogba's future at Old Trafford before lockdown had looked uncertain due to his inconsistency and injuries that largely kept him out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans.

But he has thrived when paired with Bruno Fernandes this term and is now staring to show the from that convinced United to pay Juventus a then world record £89million fee for him back in 2016.

However, according to Get French Football News, the France World Cup winner has been a long term target for Real Madrid and Zinedine Zidane who was 'greatly annoyed' by their failure to land him last summer.

Madrid have been tracking Rennes' Eduardo Camavinga, but the club are unlikely to make a big money move for the highly rated 17-year-old, especially with Pogba an outstanding target.

Madrid though may struggle to convince Pogba to leave Old Trafford now that the 27-year-old is starting to show his best form for the club.

According to former United defender Rio Ferdinand, Pogba has been allowed to thrive in midfield following the arrival of Fernandes in January.

'[Paul] Pogba has been a totally different player since the restart,' Ferdinand told BT Sport.

'The energy levels in his game, it's the Pogba United paid £89m for four years ago. A big factor is undoubtedly the man he is playing with in the centre of midfield - Bruno Fernandes.

'Pogba will not want to be shown up out there and that's perhaps the motivation he needed. Solskjaer will be absolutely loving what he's seeing from those two.

'Fernandes is just doing what comes naturally to him and it's been a huge boost to Pogba's form - it's freed him up to play as well.

'There's probably less pressure on him now because he knows that some of the burden of expectation is being shouldered by Fernandes.'
