Reports in Italy claim Zidane is a candidate to replace Sarri

There was disappointment on Friday night for both Real Madrid and Juventus, as they were both eliminated from the Champions League at the last 16 stage.

While Zinedine Zidane's job security hasn't really been affected by that elimination, Maurizio Sarri's position at Juventus is up for debate and there have even been reports suggesting that Zidane could move to Turin to replace him.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Zidane is an option if Sarri is sacked, while so too is Filippo Inzaghi.

It would mean a return to a former club if Zidane were to join Juventus, having played there between 1996 and 2001.

Asked in 2018 about a possible stint as coach of Juventus, Zidane didn't rule out that option.

"You can never say never," he told reporters then.

While Zidane is comfortable in his current role at Real Madrid, he has made shock moves before.

That was the case at the end of the 2017/18 season, when he resigned as Real Madrid coach just after winning a third Champions League in a row.
