Roma 'offer Utd to sign Smalling on another loan with €15m obligation to buy'

Roma have reportedly made a new bid for Manchester United’s Chris Smalling, offering to sign him on another loan with €15m obligation to buy.

Smalling is due to return to United once Serie A finishes, with Roma only taking him on a dry loan at the start of the season and the Red Devils refusing to extend it for the Europa League.

Now, Nicolo Schira claims club advisor Franco Baldini has approached the Premier League giants with a new offer to keep the defender at the Olimpico.

It would be a €3m loan with a compulsory purchase option for €15m next summer, while a four-year contract is said to be ready for the Englishman.

However, it remains to be seen if the proposal satisfies United, given they are holding out for a €25m permanent sale.

The 31-year-old has played 32 times for the Giallorossi this season, scoring two goals.

However, he is currently out with a thigh injury and is not expected back for at least another week.
