Brazil legend Ronaldo has revealed that he is back at home and thanked those who have wished him well after he was struck down with pneumonia in Ibiza.

Ronaldo, who played for a host of high-profile clubs including Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, was diagnosed with the illness after he was taken to Can Misses Hospital on Friday evening.

The 41-year-old wrote on Twitter: 'Hi all! I'm home after a few days at the clinic. Thank you all for the affectionate comments and positive energy! Thanks  to the team of doctors and nurses. Now let's focus on football! This season is going to be awesome.'

Ronaldo, who was reportedly in intensive care, arrived in Ibiza for a summer break last week and owns a house on the island.

During an illustrious career, Ronaldo won the World Cup twice with Brazil, in 1994 and 2002.

Widely seen as one of the greatest players of all time, he scored 352 goals in 518 games in total during his club career.

Having started out at Cruzeiro, Ronaldo joined PSV before later representing Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and AC Milan.

The striker then returned to Brazil with Corinthians prior to retiring in 2011.

Ronaldo scored 62 times for Brazil, with Pele, who found the net on 77 occasions, the only player to have scored more for the Selecao.
