Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been seen at Portugal's training centre in Lisbon having been absent for his return to Manchester United's pre-season on Monday.
Ronaldo dropped a bombshell on the Old Trafford outfit at the weekend after handing in a transfer request to leave in order to play in the Champions League this season.
SIC Noticias reported on Twitter on Monday that Ronaldo had arrived at the national team's training facilities in the capital, posting the tweet with a video of a white 4x4 Rolls Royce driving through a car park.
It is unclear the nature behind Ronaldo's visit to the training centre, but given his dedication to fitness and living a clean lifestyle it is likely he is trying to get his own pre-season training underway while he juggles his future.
United are fully aware of Ronaldo's absence from training, with family reasons cited as the cause for the star forward not arriving back from a summer break to join his team-mates at their training base in Carrington.
While Ronaldo still holds plenty of respect for United, he has told the club that should a suitable offer come in for him, he wants to be able to move on as he fears the club are not progressing enough.
To much fanfare, Ronaldo returned for a second spell after leaving Juventus last summer - with fans hoping the Portuguese star could fire them into a title fight following his previous success at the club between 2003 and 2009 where he won three Premier League crowns and the Champions League.
However, despite scoring 24 goals in 38 games, United suffered one of their worst Premier League campaigns, limping over the line to finish sixth and scrape a Europa League place on the final day of the season under interim boss Ralf Rangnick following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager.
Ronaldo is due to hold talks with new manager Erik ten Hag on his return to the club, but the 37-year-old is understood to desperately wanting to play in the Champions League at the late stage of his career.
Ronaldo's sudden urge to leave has reportedly alerted Chelsea who will be playing in the Champions League next term following their third place finish last season.
United are unwilling to sell Ronaldo at this stage but the prospect of a move is entertaining to the Blues and new owner Todd Boehly according to The Athletic.
The publication reported last month that Boehly met with Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes and that a surprise Stamford Bridge was among subjects discussed.
Those talks have now reportedly continued between the pair, with fellow director Behdad Eghbali thought to be interested in landing what would be a sensational swoop.
