Sutton slams Man Utd flops with huge claim ahead of derby

Chris Sutton has blasted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Man Utd players ahead of their clash with Man City.

Manchester United players have come in for plenty of criticism in recent weeks. The Red Devils were thrashed 4-0 by Everton at the weekend and now face a huge game with Manchester City on Wednesday night to try and keep their top four hopes alive.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's under-fire players have come in for a fresh round of criticism from Chris Sutton.

The former striker has claimed none of United's star players - including the likes of David De Gea, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford - would get into City's title-challenging side with just a handful worthy of a place on Pep Guardiola's bench.

Sutton told the Daily Mail : "If you're asking me how many Manchester United players would get into this Manchester City team, I'd have to say none. They'd even struggle to get a few representatives on the bench.

"So if United are to get a result at Old Trafford, what is required is a total team performance. If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side compete at anywhere near the level they did at Everton , then they could be in for a mauling.

"They can't go toe to toe. I know some United fans would want that, because that's what they've grown up seeing over the years, but I don't think they can beat this City team that way. They're not at that level, either in confidence or ability."United's defeat at the weekend has left them three points off the top four, but a win over City would move them level on points with Chelsea .

City, on the other hand, know they cannot afford any slip-ups as they remain stuck in a fierce battle with Liverpool for the Premier League title.
