According to the latest report from The Athletic, USA and Portugal are about to confirm that the two countries' national football teams will play a friendly match in Atlanta in March 2026.

It is reported that after Portugal secured qualification for next summer's World Cup with a 9-1 victory over Armenia, the agreement for this match has been reached and signed. According to multiple sources familiar with the negotiations, this match only awaits public confirmation.
This match, as well as another friendly between Portugal and Belgium (also scheduled for March), still requires the conclusion of a final agreement, and both Portugal and Belgium must successfully qualify for the World Cup and avoid entering the play-offs.
The match against Portugal also holds significant importance as it will end Cristiano Ronaldo's nearly 12-year absence from playing in the US. His last game in the US was on August 2, 2014, when he represented Real Madrid against Manchester United at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with a unique viewer count of 109,318.
