Tebas on Dembele case: I don't think Barcelona have done anything illegal

The president of LaLiga Santander, Javier Tebas, was asked about the Ousmane Dembele situation at Barcelona, in which the Catalan club publicly declared the Frenchman on the market, yet Tebas feels as though Los Cules have done nothing illegal.

Dembele and his entourage have rejected the various renewal proposals that the Blaugrana put in front of them, meaning that he is set to be out of contract in June unless Barcelona are able to find a buyer in January.

Dembele was then involved in a public battle in which he denounced the Spanish club for trying to blackmail him, whilst the club left him out of their matchday squad due to a bout of gastroenteritis.

"No, none, I don't think Barcelona have done anything illegal," Tebas explained.

"Knowing Mateu Alemany I believe that to be the case, they have said he didn't train due to gastroenteritis. I wish there were more like Mateu Alemany in football."

A potential side issue which has impacted Tebas in recent weeks has been the crowd disturbances which have taken place across European stadia, with the latest coming in a match between Real Betis and Sevilla which halted the match.

"We have also been detecting an increase in verbal violence," Tebas continued.

"We're going to get to work, sometimes the violence doesn't appear in all the media.

"What is happening before and after matches doesn't get spoken about, at some matches there are incidents involving ultra groups and we're going to have to get on top of that again, as we did years ago."
