Ter Stegen is happy to be one of the three goalkeepers who have been named in the FIFA 'The Best' award.
"It is a great honor for me, it is very special to be there.
"I am happy because it means I have done a good job with my team last season." said the German goalkeeper.
When asked if he considers that a goalkeeper could compete with Messi, Ronaldo and Van Dijk in this award, he said "If you try your best, you can be important to your team. If the goalkeeper has a leading role, I think it is possible for a goalkeeper to win.
"But I think those three nominees all deserve the award, and I would like Messi to win the award, for me, he is the best player in the world.”
