Real Madrid came in for significant criticism for their 45 million euro investment in Vinicius Junior, however, the club are feeling increasingly positive after he scored his first goal at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, before insisting that his celebration was classically Brazilian.
Despite having been the star performer for much of the match, it wasn't until the 75th minute of play that Vinicius found the goal he so desperately craved.
"In Brazil we're like that," he explained in his post-match interview.
"I was very happy.
"Casemiro told me that if I scored, he'd pay me, so I won."
If Thursday afternoon's clash with Melilla was very much about the former Flamengo star, it was Rodrygo's presence in the director's box alongside Florentino Perez that will be talked about long into the weekend.
The Santos forward has already been signed by Los Blancos, and it's expected he will join up with the team in July, something his fellow countrymen is eagerly anticipating.
"I've played with him in the national team and I'm glad he's here," he intimated.
"He's a great player who scores goals.
"I'm sure he's very happy to be here."
Whilst senior opportunities have been rather limited for the Brazilian to this point, in the two matches he's played under Santiago Solari he has stood out, however, he's merely focusing on helping the team improve results at this moment.
"I'm happy, I want to help the team whenever I play," he admitted.
"I want to win many titles [with Real Madrid]."
