Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola labelled Phil Foden's performance against Hoffenheim as 'incredible' on Wednesday night.

Foden, 18, played the full 90 minutes as City came from behind to beat their German opponents 2-1 in their final Champions League group stage tie.

He was involved in a number of City's attacks and earned plaudits for his passing, skill and vision.

Guardiola is yet to start Foden in the Premier League but said he had improved his chances after a positive display.

He said: 'He was incredible. We don't have any doubts about his quality. He has to compete with David Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin de Bruyne.

'But he can do everything. He is a fighter, can score goals, has the body shape. He is only 18 years old. We didn't have any doubts that he can play at the top level.'

Leroy Sane scored twice to complete the comeback after City had gone down 1-0 after Andrej Kramaric's first-half penalty.

The win meant City topped Group F and now will see which group runner-up they will be drawn against in the draw for the last-16 of the Champions League on Monday.

Guardiola added: 'We are in the best 16 and now we are going to see the draw, and arrive at the right moment.

'We started flat because Hoffenheim were so demanding about how they attacked the space and physically they were stronger. Then we started to play. But the result is good - we are first.'
