There were ugly scenes outside the Camp Nou on Sunday following Barcelona's defeat to Real Madrid in El Clasico. As Ronald Koeman left the stadium with his wife in his car, some fans abused the coach and spat and kicked at the vehicle.

Carlo Ancelotti has now come out with a message of support for the Dutchman, lamenting the scenes.

"I felt bad for Koeman, he shouldn't have had to go through that," Ancelotti said in his Tuesday press conference when asked about the abuse suffered by the Barcelona coach

"He's not a coach, he's a person whose job is a coach.

"Such lack of respect means we have a problem in society.

"We have to accept criticism as coaches, but we can't stand for the lack of respect we've seen in this case.

"When I was young, I was taught that if you want to be respected then you have to show respect."
