Atletico draw five straight games for the first time since the 1957/58 season

Atletico Madrid have chained five away draws for the first time since the 1957/58 season.

Peculiarly, they registered six straight away draws from September to December in that campaign, too. They came against Real Valladolid, Celta Vigo, Osasuna, Sevilla, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

On this run, though, Los Rojiblancos couldn't manage to clinch a win agaist Real Valladolid, Alaves, Sevilla, Granada and, most recently, Villarreal.

Diego Simeone's side currently sit sixth in LaLiga Santander with 26 points, and their below-par performances away from the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano have puzzled the fans.

From Daucik to Simeone

Ferdinand Daucik was Atletico Madrid's coach back in the 1957/58 season, while Simeone is in charge of this current group of players.

The Argentine's side have registered three 1-1 draws against Alaves, Sevilla and Granada, as well a couple of goalless draws at Real Valladolid and Villarreal.

Their next away game is against Real Betis at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, and if Atletico get one more draw, they will match Daucik's record of six successive draws.
