Barcelona are aware that Athletic Club winger Nico Williams has his doubts about making a switch to Catalonia this season, and are using all of the arguments they can to persuade him to make the switch. The 22-year-old is believed to be edging towards another year at Athletic.
Recent reports state that Barcelona are aware that Williams would rather wait another year before leaving Bilbao. Sporting Director Deco, who has stayed behind as Barcelona head on preseason tour to the USA, is doing his best to make Williams see that now is the right time to move to the Blaugrana.
The Brazilian-Portuguese has explained that the train is passing him by, and they will not wait another year for him, bearing in mind they tried to negotiate with Williams before he signed his latest contract extension. This was explained by Cadena SER, who say that this also explains their renewed ambitions with Dani Olmo, reopening talks with his agent over the weekend.
Williams is believed to have promised his brother Inaki Williams that he would play at least one season in Europe with him before leaving, and holds plenty of warmth for Athletic. Working with Ernesto Valverde has seen Williams make the jump from exciting winger to an effective forward in the final third too, and he could continue his development.
