Betting Tips: Barcelona vs Girona

  /  autty

The hosts enjoyed a huge win in this fixture last season and we are backing them once more to record a comfortable derby victory at Camp Nou

This local derby has received plenty of press of late as it is the fixture which has been suggested by La Liga to be taken to the US as the first ever Primera Division match to be held outside of Spain.

Where the game scheduled for January at the Estadio Montilivi actually takes place remains to be seen, but before that the two Catalan side meet at the Camp Nou this weekend.

Barcelona have made a perfect start to their defence of their league title with four wins out of four, while Tuesday night also saw them shine in their Champions League opener beating PSV by a 4-0 scoreline.

Barca remain unbeaten at the Camp Nou in La Liga for two years and William Hill price them at just 1/16 (1.06) to claim three points.

Girona have never beaten their more illustrious Catalan rivals in an official match and are offered at 28/1 (29.00) to do so on Sunday, with the draw priced at 11/1 (12.00).

Barca have no real injury concerns, yet their grueling schedule of seven matches in three weeks could see manager Ernesto Valverde make some changes on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, Girona are likely to still be without Colombian international wing-back Johan Mojica.

Last season in the first ever top flight matches between these two sides, Barcelona won comfortably 6-1 at home and 3-0 at Montilivi.

Girona boast a strong away record with three wins and a draw from their last four matches on the road, yet surely they will be unable to extend that unbeaten run on Sunday evening.

The Blaugrana have scored 15 goals in their three competitive home matches so far this season, with Girona conceding four times against Real Madrid last month.

The champions are priced at 13/20 (1.65) to win both halves and in an extremely one-sided market this looks like being perhaps the best angle from which to back a Barca victory.

Valverde's side are also offered at 13/10 (2.30) to win and concede which paid out in their last home league game against Huesca.
