Chelsea fans desperate for Costa to return after he caused havoc in Atleti's win

It looked as though Chelsea fans were really missing Diego Costa after his performance in Atletico Madrid's win over Juventus on Wednesday.

The Spain international re-signed for Diego Simeone's side initially on loan in 2017 and then permanently in 2018.

And Chelsea supporters seemed to miss watching him play for their side after he caused havoc against Juventus.

He started off the match in typical Costa fashion by arguing with the referee in the first minute.

Then it was not long before he was shown a yellow card for not retreating in the wall in the eight minute.

Costa was then lucky not to be sent off for diving to try and win a penalty which was at first awarded and then subsequently reversed.

This did not put Blues supporters off, however, as they appeared to love his aggressive nature.

One fan said: '30 minutes of watching Diego Costa, and I’ve figured out exactly what Chelsea have been missing the last two seasons. Leader, goal scorer, man motivator.'

Another added: 'Oh gosh, Chelsea do really miss Diego Costa. He's irreplaceable.'

Atletico scored two late goals thanks to centre-backs Jose Giminez and Diego Godin to give them a sizable advantage going into the second leg.
