Franchu: My dream is to be called up by Argentina

Francisco Feuillassier Abalo, better known as Franchu, is the only Argentinian player in the ranks at Real Madrid and the 20-year-old wants to represent the Albiceleste one day.

Currently playing as a forward with Castilla, he taken part in both of the most recent pre-seasons with the first team - under Zinedine Zidane in 2017 and under Julen Lopetegui this past summer.

He has never, though, been called up for Argentina's youth teams.

In an interview with Argentine news outlet Infobae, he said that wearing the hallowed shirt is something that is close to his heart.

"The dream to play for Argentina was, and still is, very much the case and always will be," said the young forward.

He could, though, be called up by Spain after having lived there for a decade, but he left no doubt as to which path he would take if given the choice.

"I'm sure I would not reject it [a Spanish call-up], but I hope that Argentina call me up, that's my priority" he said.

As well as having his heart set on a national call-up, Franchu is ambitious and looking at getting into the first team at club level.

"The first-team squad is difficult [to break into], but it's not impossible, especially now that I've got two pre-seasons under my belt and have made my debut in the cup," said the young Argentine.

"I've played with Dani Carvajal, Casemiro, Lucas Vasquez and Nacho, which just makes you believe that this dream can come good."

In this season's Copa del Rey, he was on the bench against Melilla, but didn't get onto the pitch.
