Koeman: we respect contracts, so if Suarez stays he'll be another player for us

Ronald Koeman has left the door open for Luis Suarez to be reintegrated into the Barcelona squad should he not complete a move to Juventus or elsewhere this transfer window.

The No.9 was told early in the Dutchman's time at the club that he had no place in his plans, but complications have arisen in his proposed move to Italy, leading to uncertainty about his future.

"I was talking with Luis this morning," Koeman said on Wednesday evening, immediately after Barcelona's 3-1 defeat of Girona.

"We'll wait and see if there's a way out for him or not.

"But we respect contracts and from day one we've said that if he's part of the squad then he'll be another player for us."

Francisco Trincao and Ronald Araujo both impressed on Wednesday and look to have a significant role under Koeman, but he was keen to point to other impressive youngsters.

"We know that we have very good young players," he added.

"The important thing is that they take part in training and in friendly matches.

"If I had to highlight one young player I'd say Konrad [de la Fuente], but Pedri and Riqui [Puig] also have big futures ahead of them."

Philippe Coutinho benefitted from Trincao's presence by tapping in from an assist of his to open the scoring, and the Brazilian is enjoying himself since returning from a treble-winning season with Bayern Munich.

"He's in high spirits at the moment," Koeman said of Coutinho.

"He's training and playing well.

"He has great quality and we have to bear in mind that he needs the support of his coach and fans."
