Koeman: If I stop enjoying myself, I'll play golf five days a week

Ronald Koeman is focused on enjoying his time on the Barcelona bench and says once he stops enjoying himself he will step to the side.

The Dutch coach has not reached that point yet despite the "complicated" situation the club is going through and he insists his side are "improving."

"If a day will arrive when I don't enjoy this, I will happily step to the sie and will play golf, which is also a wonderful sport, five days a week," he said. "But I still want to follow this path."

He added: "I like being with the players, training, analysing games, having a winning atmosphere, making decisions. I loved the Clasico the other day, not the result, but the atmosphere.

"I know how this works, it all depends on results, but I want to enjoy myself, whether that's eight years, one year or three months more."

Koeman also revealed that Ancelotti offered him support after the Clasico, explaining that the Real Madrid boss understands the situation having coached so many big clubs.

The Barcelona manager was speaking ahead of Wednesday's trip to Rayo Vallecano, who have started the season well after promotion back to the top flight.

"They are a team that came up at the last moment (through the playoffs) and they're having a great season until now," Koeman said.

"They're an aggressive team. We have the memory of the Copa game last season, a difficult game, so we expect a similar match this time. If follow the line of the last three home games, where we have done a lot well, we have a chance to win the game."
