Lionel Messi's assist for Arturo Vidal's opener against Real Valladolid was his 20th of the campaign.
That makes him just the second player in the 21st century to register 20 league goals and 20 assists in a single season alongside Thierry Henry, who did it for Arsenal in the 2002/03 campaign.
With that assist for Vidal, Messi also closed in on the record number of assists in LaLiga Santander in a single campaign.
That record is currently held by Xavi Hernandez, who notched 21 assists for Barcelona during the 2008/09 season.
Vidal has been the recipient of two Messi assists this season, with Luis Suarez the player to have benefitted most from his captain, having scored seven goals from Messi's passes.
