OPINION: Brahim shows he can play with the best

There is some good to come from Real Madrid's draw with Getafe, and let me tell you why. The first reason is that there are only four games left before this slow agony can end, and the other is Brahim Diaz, who came as a breath of fresh air to the side and showed that he can play with the best.

For Madrid it was just another game in purgatory, but it served a purpose for Brahim. He inspired Madrid at times, he took shots, he haggled, and he tried to take control.

He has barely had an opportunity at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu since arriving in January, but in a few minutes against Athletic Club and against Getafe he did enough to show there's more to him than just some promise.

Against a tough defence he showed ability and an eagerness to get on the ball.

The 19-year-old is not as quick as the ill-fated Juan Gomez, known as 'Juanito', but his way of dribbling, his technical moves - all of these things were very much the traits of a Real Madrid player. He still has a long way to go, but his quality is beyond doubt.

Brahim had two clear chances on Thursday but missed both. He should be credited for creating them both himself, though, rather than the focus being on the misses.
