Parma new boy Nicolas Schiappacasse says the Ducali have signed a ‘No 10 whose pace is his strong point’.

Schiappacasse arrives on an 18-month loan from Atletico Madrid and with a reputation to boot, given he graduated from Los Rojiblancos’ youth academy and has 32 goals for Uruguay at Under-17 and Under-20 levels combined.

“I know Parma and I know their winning history,” the 20-year-old, who holds an Italian passport, said at his official unveiling.

“I didn’t give this opportunity a second’s thought when I heard about it. I’ve followed Italian football since I was a child and I didn’t think twice about it.

“I’m very happy to have joined such an important club. Parma are a big step for me in my career and Serie A is a very exciting League, which I want to gauge myself in.

“I’ll do everything to improve. I like to play as a No 10 and pace is my strong point. I don’t mind playing out wide either.

“I like getting stuck into a game and now I’m getting to know the defensive phase. Physically I’m fine, I can use both feet without problems.”
